Cheaper Motorcycle Insurance From Specialist Motorbike Insurance Brokers

Are you searching for cheap motorbike insurance? Obviously the quickest way to a cheap quote is through any of the insurance comparison sites.

With so much fierce competition amongst insurers each vying for your business it’s relatively easy to find several good offers. But before you commit yourself to any cheap motorbike insurance policy here are something’s that you need to consider.

Firstly, you need to decide on what level of cover you require? There are three to choose from.

Third Party Only Motorbike Insurance (TPO) – This is the minimum legal requirement in the UK. Should you have an accident then you are covered for any damage you cause to someone else’s vehicle or someone else’s property.

You are also covered if you are responsible for injury to other people and they have to pay for medical treatment. Any damages to your own motorbike ARE NOT covered and you will have to cover the cost of any repairs from your own pocket.

Cheap motorbike insurance doesn’t get any cheaper than ‘third party only’. If your motorbike is relatively old and has little resale value then this might be an option to consider.

Third Party Fire & Theft Motorbike Insurance (TPFT) – Same as TPO but in addition you are also covered if your motorbike is stolen or is damaged by fire, Motorbikes are always prime targets for thieves, especially newer bikes. If you live in an area where motorbike thefts are more likely to occur then a TPFT insurance policy would be the better option.

Fully Comprehensive Motorbike Insurance – This provides the same cover as TPFT plus it also covers any damage to your own motorbike and your own property. A Fully comprehensive policy won’t include everything there are optional extras which can be added on, or purchased separately such as roadside repair and recovery schemes, and it cannot be classed as cheap motorbike insurance. Fully comp policies can be expensive… for example

If you own an expensive high powered sports bike you’ll no doubt want the best insurance cover you can get to cover you in almost any eventuality – fully comprehensive with additional extras is what you’ll be after.

Optional extras would include such things such as cover for your legal expenses. It may be the case that the accident was not your fault but you need help in pursuing for compensation.

It could be that you’ve had to pay for medical expenses or your unable to work because of injuries sustained, this is were you will need legal assistance. Trying to manage this on your own can be an expensive headache (bikesure.co.uk include £100,000 free legal cover as standard even on their cheap motorbike insurance products)

Breakdown cover is another optional extra which isn’t included as standard on motorbike insurance policies, This is something you really CANNOT do without.

No matter how well prepared you are anything could happen at anytime – whether it’s a puncture, a battery problem, engine non-start, engine cut-out, a mechanical problem or you’ve run out of fuel – in these situations you need to call out a reliable break down service who will have someone there within 40 minutes to help you.

Hopefully I’ve given you a lot to think on. Cheap motorbike insurance isn’t always the answer, but a lot does depend on your circumstances, your motorbike and how much insurance cover you can afford.
